Kim Porter Cause of Death Released by LA County Coroner

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner released  the cause of death for Kim Porter on Friday.

The model, actress and former girlfriend of Sean “Diddy” Combs, died of lobar pneumonia, according to the autopsy report. Porter’s manner of death was determined to be natural.

Lobar pneumonia is a type of pneumonia that affects one or more sections of the lungs, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Porter, 47, was found unresponsive at her home in the Toluca Lake section of Los Angeles on Nov. 15, 2018.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was completed the next day, but the coroner’s office listed her cause of death as “deferred” and the manner of death as “pending investigation.”

The mother-of-four was laid to rest on Nov. 24 in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia. Among those attending her funeral were Combs, Al B. Sure, Tichina Arnold, Mary J. Blige, Russell Simmons and other celebrities.

Porter is survived by her father Jake D. Porter, Jr. and his wife Georgine Porter, her three children with Combs, 20-year-old son Christian Casey and twin 12-year-old daughters D’Lila Star and Jessie James, and son Quincy Brown, 27, from a previous relationship with Al B. Sure.

Her family released a statement saying she was a “loving mother” and “devoted friend.”

“God broke the mold when he made Kim, there was truly no other woman like her. Although her time here on earth was far too short, she lived a life full of purpose and meaning She was a loving mother and devoted friend. She was the epitome of kindness and grace,” the statement said. “There wasn’t a person she met whose soul she did not touch. Kim was the type of woman who changed lives for the better,” the Porter, Goodwin and Combs families say in a statement Friday to the Associated Press. “She will be forever remembered and missed by so many. As her family, we promise to honor her every day of our lives. We love you always.”
