Kerry Washington will soon have her name etched in the Hollywood Walk of Fame history books.
The actress, producer and director will be honored with the 2,796th star on the Los Angeles landmark — in the category of television.
Washington is perhaps best known to TV audiences for her role as Olivia Pope on ABC’s Scandal, where she broke barriers as the first Black woman to headline a network TV drama since 1974.
Her star will be unveiled on Monday, Dec. 2, at 6258 Hollywood Boulevard in front of The W Hollywood Hotel.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honored to welcome actress Kerry Washington to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her extraordinary talent and dedication to her craft have not only made her a beloved actress, but also an inspiration to many,” Ana Martinez, producer of Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies, said in a statement.

A native of The Bronx, New York, Washington is an actress, director, author, activist, and Emmy-winning producer (Live in Front of a Studio Audience: ‘All in the Family’ and ‘Good Times’).
Her directing credits include Insecure, Scandal, SMILF, and the pilot episode of Hulu’s Reasonable Doubt, which comes from Washington’s Simpson Street production company.
Among her film credits are Django Unchained, Ray, The Last King of Scotland, Save the Last Dance, Lift, For Colored Girls, Peeples, Lakeview Terrace, Miracle at St. Anna, Fantastic Four, I Think I Love My Wife, The Dead Girl, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Our Song.
The multi-hyphenate will be joined at her star ceremony by Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes and filmmaker Tyler Perry.
Perry wrote and directed the upcoming war drama, The Six Triple Eight, which stars and is executive produced by Washington. The film will be released on Netflix Dec. 20.
Kerry Washington’s star ceremony takes place Dec. 2 at 11:30 AM PT/2:30 PM ET. The ceremony will stream live at www.walkoffame.com.
