Kendrick Lamar just scored another win.
The Compton rapper has been booked to headline the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans, the NFL announced Sunday, Sept. 8.
“Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop,” the league said in a statement.
Added Kendrick, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

Jay-Z and Roc Nation will produce the show, with creative direction provided by Kendrick and Dave Free’s Los Angeles-based company, pgLang.
News that the California rapper will headline the music portion of the nation’s most-watched TV event comes after his headline-grabbing rap feud with Drake.
By most accounts, Kendrick won the battle. His diss track “Not Like Us” topped the Billboard Hot 100 over the summer and “became a pop-culture fixture,” Billboard reported.
The hip-hop star wowed fans on June 19, with his special Juneteenth “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” concert celebrating West Coast rap in Inglewood, California.
With DJ Mustard on the beat, Kendrick turned in a high energy performance of “Not Like Us” and performed the single a total of five times as the audience recited the lyrics.
The music video for the song was released on July 4, and has been viewed more than 127 million times.
Kendrick, 37, is known to fans for his hit singles “Euphoria,” “DNA,” “Humble,” “B—h, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “PRIDE,” and “m.A.A.d city,” just to name a few.
The rapper is one of the most acclaimed hip-hop artists currently on the music scene.
He’s taken home 17 Grammy Awards, per Grammy.com.
In 2018, he won a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album Damn, becoming the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to win the prestigious honor.
He also performed during the Super Bowl’s 2022 halftime show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, appearing with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige.
Super Bowl LIX takes place on Feb. 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome.
