Kelly Rowland and Nicole Scherzinger will lend their experience in the music industry as mentors to aspiring singers on Netflix’s upcoming music competition series, Building the Band.

Additional guest judges will be coming on board throughout the season, with filming for Building the Band currently getting underway.

Building the Band is a brave and bold undertaking for all involved as we hand over power to the singers themselves to form their own band based on chemistry first. With looks out of the equation, can they create a deeper connection with their bandmates?” executive producer Cat Lawson said in a statement.

In addition to being a member of Destiny’s Child with Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, Rowland was a coach on The Voice Australia, a judge on The X Factor UK, and the BET show Chasing Destiny. She is credited with forming the girl groups Little Mix and June’s Diary from her stints on The X Factor UK and Chasing Destiny.

Scherzinger appeared on The Sing-Off, The X Factor U.S., The X Factor UK, Australia’s Got Talent, and The Masked Singer from 2019-2023. She formed One Direction (which included Payne), by selecting the members of the group when she was on The X Factor UK.

Alison Holloway, Katrina Morrison, Clara Elliot and Simon Crossley are  executive producers on the new series alongside Cat Lawson. Remarkable Entertainment and Banijay UK are producing the show.

Building the Band’s premiere date will be announced later by Netflix.
