Kel Mitchell Recovering After ‘Genuinely Frightening’ Health Ordeal

Kel Mitchell is “on the road to recovery” after a recent health scare.

The Good Burger 2 star posted a statement on social media Wednesday, Nov. 8, confirming reports he’d suffered a medical emergency.

The actor thanked his friends and fans for their concern as he battles back from an undisclosed illness.

“Grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes that surround me during a genuinely frightening time,” Mitchell shared. “The scare was real, but so was the support.”

He added, “With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I’m now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family.”

The Kenan & Kel actor released the statement after TMZ reported he was admitted to a Los Angeles-area hospital on Tuesday. A source told the outlet the actor arrived in the emergency room “conscious and alert.”

Mitchell, 45, rose to stardom on the 1990s Nickelodeon comedy series All That, and later co-headlined the spinoff Kenan & Kel with current Saturday Night Live comic Kenan Thompson.

Thompson and Mitchell went on to appear in the feature film Good Burger (1997), based on a sketch from All That.

The two teamed up again in December 2022, for an SNL sketch titled “Kenan and Kelly,” featuring guest host Keke Palmer.

Thompson and Mitchell will next be seen in the sequel Good Burger 2, along with fellow original cast members Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, and Carmen Electra.

The film starts streaming Nov. 22 on Paramount+.
