Megachurch pastor John Gray has been hospitalized in a critical care unit after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
His wife, Aventer Gray, posted details about his condition on Instagram this weekend and said the family is “in need of a miracle.”
“After feeling a little different over the past couple weeks, [John] went to the ER on Thursday evening and was immediately admitted to CCU with a saddle pulmonary embolism in the pulmonary artery and more lung blood clots,” she wrote in the post.

A saddle pulmonary embolism is a rare type of blockage that happens “when a large blood clot gets stuck where the main pulmonary artery branches off into a Y-shape to go into each lung,” according to Healthline. The condition can lead to heart failure and death.
Aventer Gray added that her husband needs “two types of surgery” because of pressure on his heart.
“To place this in perspective, the doctor said that people have come into the hospital dead with this exact scenario he walked in with,” she wrote. “I need as many people who believe in the miracle healing power of Jesus Christ to join me and my family and our church as we cry out on behalf of John W. Gray III.”
The post was flooded with well-wishes from friends, fans and celebrities.
“Sending all of our prayers. GOD is able,” La La Anthony commented on the post.
“Lord please work a miracle for your son John!! We need him, He needs you right now! Heal him in the mighty name of Jesus!!!” DeVon Franklin added.
