The View just booked an unlikely guest.

Vice President JD Vance is set to appear on the ABC daytime talk show on Tuesday, June 16.

The network announced the booking in a press release Thursday, making sure to mention Vance is joining “America’s most-watched daytime talk show.”

The VP will be stopping by the program to promote his new faith-based book,  Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.

When he sits down with hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro, Vance will also discuss “priorities and goals for the administration and the latest political headlines,” per ABC.

This will be Vance’s first appearance on The View. His visit comes after a spokesperson for President Trump attacked the show in July 2025, after Behar called Trump “jealous” of former President Barack Obama because Obama is “trim, smart, handsome, happily married.”

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers responded by saying the television host and comedian has a “severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” as previously reported.

Rogers also issued a threat, saying Behar “should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity” before her show gets “pulled off air.”

ABC and the Trump administration are currently locked in a battle over license renewals. Last month, the company filed paperwork to renew its local TV station licenses “under protest in response to an unlawful, arbitrary, and unconstitutional order” by the Federal Communications Commission.

In September 2025, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr called for an investigation of The View, which is frequently critical of Trump administration policies.

The long-running daytime staple is now in its 29th season.

In March, the show closed out the first quarter with its best TV ratings in five years. According to Hollywood trade TheWrap, the daily program averaged 2.78 million viewers and a 1.86 rating among households. Those were The View‘s best numbers since the first quarter of 2021.

The show is currently No. 1 among daytime network talk shows and news programs in both households and total viewers, outpacing NBC’s Today Third Hour; Today with Jenna & Sheinelle; and NBC News Daily.

Since launching in 1997, The View has added a weekend edition and a “Behind the Table” podcast. The podcast is hosted by the show’s executive producer Brian Teta. The Weekend View streams on ABC News Live Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. ET. The 30-minute weekend show is hosted by The View‘s Friday panelists.
