Rymir Satterthwaite, who claims to be Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s biological son, says he is disappointed by the Roc Nation founder’s response to a lawsuit accusing the hip-hop mogul of raping a 13-year-old girl.

Satterthwaite, who for years has expressed frustration over Jay-Z’s refusal to take a paternity test, provided a statement to the Daily Mail on Dec. 10 about the mogul’s legal troubles.

In the statement, he called Jay-Z’s handling of the situation  “heartbreaking.”

On Dec. 8, attorney Tony Buzbee filed an amended complaint to a federal lawsuit in the Southern District of New York, adding Jay-Z’s name to the filing. The initial suit alleged Sean “Diddy” Combs and an unnamed male celebrity took turns raping the 13-year-old at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000.

Jay-Z immediately responded to being named in the civil suit with a statement denying the allegations. He called Buzbee a “deplorable human” in a “cheap suit,” and said the accuser’s claims were “idiotic.” Combs also denied the allegations through his legal team.

In response to Jay-Z’s comments, Satterthwaite expressed frustration.

“It is both heartbreaking and frustrating to see Mr. Carter respond to allegations with such deflection and attacks,” said Satterthwaite.

“My late mother, Wanda, was just 16 years old when she became pregnant with me, and for years I have sought clarity about my identity. This is not about greed or spectacle — it’s about uncovering the truth and ensuring all parties are held accountable,” he continued.

Satterthwaite, 31, has said in numerous interviews over the years that his mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, allegedly hooked up with Jay-Z in 1992 at his aunt’s apartment in Brooklyn, New York. Wanda was said to be 16 at the time and Jay-Z was around 22.

Since 2010, Satterthwaite has been trying to get Jay-Z to take a paternity test. He has even taken the superstar rapper to court but lost.

In a 2018 interview with The Sun, Satterthwaite provided the outlet with a copy of his birth certificate and no father was listed.

The aspiring musician told the outlet he wasn’t looking for a payday but clarity.

“I don’t want money or anything like that from Jay-Z,” he told The Sun. “I just want him to finally tell the truth to the world.”
