Comedian and former Tonight Show host Jay Leno is undergoing medical treatment in Los Angeles after suffering burn injuries in a fire at his vintage car garage over the weekend.
“I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet,” the comedian said in a statement on Monday to Variety.
Leno, 72, was taken to the Grossman Burn Center where he is being treated.

News of his accident emerged after multiple media outlets reported the comedian canceled a Las Vegas appearance at the last minute on Sunday because of a “very serious medical emergency.”
TMZ reported he was working in the Los Angeles garage on Sunday where he stores his car collection, when one of the vehicles burst into flames. Sources told the outlet the left side of Leno’s face was burned, but the flames did not “penetrate his eye or his ear.”
Leno is best known for hosting The Tonight Show from 1992 to 2009. He has periodically returned to the late-night NBC show and hosted his last episode in 2014.
Since 2014, he has hosted NBCUniversal’s Jay Leno’s Garage, a one-hour reality series that mixes stunts, challenges, reviews, celebrity interviews and conversations about cars.
The auto enthusiast also writes a regular column in Popular Mechanics offering details on his car collection and giving advice.
In 2021, he began hosting a revival of syndicated quiz series, You Bet Your Life.
