The 2020 Grammy Awards will honor late rapper Nipsey Hussle with a star-studded tribute, the Recording Academy announced Tuesday.
Among the artists booked to take part in the tribute are Kirk Franklin, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch and YG.
“An activist, entrepreneur and rapper, Nipsey Hussle had a lasting impact on not just his community, but also the culture at large,” Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich said in a statement. “We are honored to bring together this amazing group of artists to celebrate Nipsey’s life and pay tribute to his many contributions to music. It’s sure to be a memorable performance.”

In November, the rapper received three posthumous Grammy nominations — Best Rap Song (“Racks in the Middle”); Best Rap Performance (“Racks in the Middle,” featuring Roddy Ricch & Hit-Boy); and Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Higher,” DJ Khaled featuring Nipsey Hussle & John Legend).
Hussle, real name Ermias Asghedom, was fatally shot in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. He was 33 years old.
Eric Holder was arrested in April and charged with one count of murder, two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. He pleaded not guilty.
Hussle was honored at the BET Awards in June, had an intersection named after him in Los Angeles, and will be remembered this weekend at the Grammys.
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS, on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.
