The virtual ceremony started out with Daniel Kaluuya being named best supporting actor in any motion picture for his turn as Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah. Jodie Foster picked up the award for best supporting actress in any motion picture for her performance in The Mauritanian

Nomadland won the award for best motion picture drama, and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was named best motion picture — musical or comedy.
On the television side, Catherine O’Hara won for best actress in a television series – musical or comedy for Schitt’s Creek, and Jason Sudeikis picked up the award for best actor in a television series – musical or comedy for Ted Lasso.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returned as hosts, with the two comedians making fun of the HFPA after the international organization was outed for not having a single Black journalist among its 87 members.
“The HFPA is made up of around 90 international—no Black—journalists who attend movie junkets each year in search of a better life,” Fey quipped. “So, let’s see what these European weirdos nominated this year.”
