‘GMA’ Sparks Backlash After Mistaking Regina Hall for Tiffany Haddish

Good Morning America has come under fire after confusing actress Regina Hall with comedian Tiffany Haddish during its 2019 Met Gala coverage.

Twitter users captured screenshots of GMA‘s video package that aired Tuesday morning, which showed Haddish’s name in footage featuring Hall. Ironically, the two co-starred together in 2017’s Girls Trip.

Fans were especially angry that the morning show had just interviewed Haddish prior to Hall, with some commenters calling for the show’s “control room” to “get it right.”

“Whoops! This is REGINA HALL! No more passes!” someone tweeted. “Get it right control room!”

Another person wrote: “SEEEEEEE!!!! This that BULL! But they can get every Single Chris in a Marvel Movie correct. I see you GMA.”

Someone else complained: “Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish should obviously be known as two different people!”

This isn’t the first time a network has confused two high-profile African-Americans.

Fox News host Jesse Watters, for instance, confused Gayle King with Robin Roberts during a March broadcast. And in August 2018, Fox included a photo of singer Patti LaBelle in a tribute to the late Aretha Franklin.

As for Hall and Haddish, they have yet to respond to the mix-up.
