A search was underway for Glee actress and singer Naya Rivera Wednesday evening after her 4-year-old son Josey was found floating in a boat on Lake Piru in Ventura County, California, authorities said.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department told KTLA-TV that deputies received a call around 6 p.m. that a child was alone in a boat on the lake. Authorities were unable to locate an adult with the little boy.
At 6:30 p.m., the sheriff’s department tweeted that rescue crews were searching for a possible drowning victim.

Hours later, the sheriff’s posted an update on Twitter identifying the missing person as Naya Rivera, 33, of Los Angeles.
The tweet suggested that the search had been suspended for the night, adding that the “operation will continue at first light.” The tweet included video of a search and rescue helicopter hovering over the lake and later touching down in a parking lot.

Lake Piru is a reservoir located in the Los Padres National Forest, about 55 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. The area includes recreational facilities for camping, water sports and picnicking.
Rivera, who is a Southern California native, appeared on Glee from 2009-2015.
She currently has a role on Step Up: High Water, a web series based on the Step Up film franchise. The third season of the series was recently picked up by Starz and the name was shortened to Step Up. On May 28, Rivera took to Instagram to share her excitement that the show would be airing on Starz.
“I can not wait to start filming the new season of Step Up! We’re going to bring it like never before! Happy to be a part of the @starz family! @lionsgatetv,” she posted along with a picture of herself and actor-singer Ne-Yo.
