More up-and-coming comics will get a shot at national stardom after Netflix renewed Funny AF with Kevin Hart for a second season.

The streamer made the announcement on Tuesday, June 16, saying the comedy competition had a “breakout first season” and remained on the Netflix Top 10 chart for over three weeks.

“I’m beyond excited that Funny AF is coming back for season two,” executive producer and host Kevin Hart said in a statement.

“This show is all about giving hungry, undiscovered comedians the kind of shot I was chasing when I started out—an uncensored stage, a real audience, and the chance to turn a dream into a career,” he added.

“The response to season one has been incredible, and I can’t wait to get back out there, discover more phenomenal talent, and keep raising the bar for stand-up comedy,” said Hart.

Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2027, and will include live episodes with real-time voting by Netflix subscribers.

The show is produced by Hartbeat Productions and Alfred Street Industries. In addition to Hart, executive producers include Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, Luke Kelly-Clyne, Meghan Hoffman, Jeff Clanagan, and Jenny Groom.

Funny AF debuted on April 20. Following showcases in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, 43 competitors were selected to join the competition.

The rotating judging panel included Keegan-Michael Key, Kumail Nanjiani, Chelsea Handler, Nikki Glaser, Tom Segura, special guest Chris Rock, and Hart.

The final two installments of the eight-episode series streamed live from L.A. as part of the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival.

Four competitors made it to the finale — Ron Taylor, Usama Siddiquee, Caitlin Peluffo, and Reg Thomas.

Viewers made the final decision and chose Taylor as the winner, with the comic being awarded a Netflix special. The top-four comics were also special guests at the streamer’s controversial Kevin Hart roast on May 10.

Taylor, who hails from Detroit, is currently developing his special. Although the cautious comic admitted on the red carpet at the finale that he’s still holding onto his day job at an ice cream shop, just in case.
