Disney Branded Television is giving a first look at basketball series The Crossover.

Jalyn Hall (Till) leads the cast of the family drama, which is based on the bestselling novel by the same name from Kwame Alexander.

The series follows teenage brothers Josh (Hall) and Jordan Bell played by Amir O’Neil (Mann and Wife). The two are considered basketball phenoms, whose dreams of the future come into conflict as the two get older. Through his lyrical poetry, an adult version of Josh — known to his friends as “Filthy McNasty” — narrates the coming of age story.

Derek Luke (Antwone Fisher) plays the teens’ father, a former professional basketball player, who is adjusting to a new career as a coach and pushes his sons hard in hopes that they’ll become NBA stars.

The cast also includes Deja Monique Cruz, Skyla I’Lece, Trevor Raine Bush, and Daveed Diggs who narrates the series.

Author, poet and educator Kwame Alexander serves as co-showrunner and executive producer.

The Crossover premieres Tuesday, April 4 on the Disney Channel and Wednesday, April 5, on Disney+ in the U.S.
