Despite being represented by a small army of attorneys, Sean “Diddy” Combs lost his bid to delay his sex trafficking trial.

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian issued a ruling on Friday, April 18, rejecting a defense motion for the music mogul’s trial to be pushed back by two months.

On Wednesday, Diddy’s attorneys sent a letter to Subramanian, saying they needed more time to prepare their strategy after prosecutors filed a third superseding indictment against the Bad Boy Records founder earlier this month.

But on Friday, Subramanian reminded Combs that he has attorneys from four different firms working on his case and they should be able to put together a defense strategy by May 5, when his trial is scheduled to start.

“It is unclear why there isn’t sufficient time to prepare,” Subramanian said during Friday’s hearing in Manhattan federal court, according to the New York Post.

Combs was arrested in September 2024, and charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking; and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to all three counts.

At the time, his legal team requested a speedy trial.

Prosecutors later added additional allegations against the mogul, then two more charges were filed in the April 3rd superseding indictment — sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The mogul pleaded not guilty to those charges on Monday, April 14. During that hearing, the defense suggested it might need a two-week delay, but later argued for an extra two months to prepare for trial.

Once a jury is seated, opening arguments are expected to begin on May 12.

Combs has been jailed at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn since his arrest, after he was denied bail by three judges.
