The BET Awards will recognize Busta Rhymes this weekend with a lifetime achievement honor and musical tribute.
The rapper, songwriter and record producer will be honored for his 30-plus-years in the music business, BET announced Friday.
Born Trevor Smith, Jr., the hip-hop star grew up in Brooklyn, New York.
He has released a total of ten solo albums and received 12 Grammy nominations, according to Grammy.com.

Known for his rapid-fire delivery, Busta’s long list of hits includes “Gimme Some More”, “Touch It,” “Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check,” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.”
During BET’s tribute celebrating his career, Bia, Coi Leray, Cutty Ranks, Dexta Daps, M.O.P., Rah Digga, ScarLip, Spice, Supercat, Swizz Beatz, and other surprise guests will take the stage.
Sunday’s awards will also include a tribute to Tina Turner, who died in May. Patti LaBelle will lead the tribute.
And there will be a star-studded performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop music.
The list of performers for the hip-hop celebration includes 69 Boyz, Big Daddy Kane, Chief Keef, DJ Unk, E-40, Fast Life Yungstaz & Easton (F.L.Y.), Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Kid ‘N Play, MC Lyte, Percy “Master P” Miller, Remy Ma, Soulja Boy, The Sugarhill Gang, Trick Daddy, Trina, Tyga, Uncle Luke, Warren G, Ying Yang Twins, and Yo-Yo.
Drake leads the list of nominees this year, with seven nods. He’s followed by GloRilla with six nominations. 21 Savage and Lizzo picked up five nominations each.
The BET Awards air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 25 at 8 PM ET/ PT.
Voting for the BET Awards 2023 Viewer’s Choice Award ends on June 25 at 6:30 PM PT/ 9:30 PM ET. Audiences can cast their vote on BET’s website.
