Patti LaBelle will take the stage this weekend at the BET Awards to pay tribute to late music legend Tina Turner.
LaBelle, who is a legend in her own right, will honor the queen of rock & roll “in a performance that promises to be nothing short of extraordinary,” BET said in a press release Friday.
Turner died at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland, on May 24. She was 83.

The music icon was born Anna Mae Bullock on Nov. 26, 1939, in rural Tennessee to a family of sharecroppers.
In the 1950s, she met Ike Turner at a gig with his band, the Kings of Rhythm. She started singing with the band and Ike chose the name Tina Turner for her.
Ike and Tina married in 1962, and formed the Ike and Tina Turner Revue.
After leaving Ike and facing financial difficulties, Turner relaunched her career in the ’80s.
Her comeback album Private Dancer sold 10 million copies. She topped the charts with hits including “We Don’t Need Another Hero,” a cover of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together,” and the global hit “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” which won Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance.
Throughout her career, Turner received 12 Grammys, including eight competitive Grammy Awards.
She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, once with Ike Turner in 1991 and as a solo artist in 2021.
Turner will be honored at the BET Awards on Sunday, June 25 at 8 PM ET/ PT on BET.
