For Bosch fans disappointed Jerry Edgar didn’t have a major role on spinoff series Bosch: Legacy, there’s no need to worry. He’s getting his own show.

Amazon Studios made the announcement Tuesday, saying the popular Bosch franchise is expanding with two new series — including one focusing on Harry Bosch’s former partner, LAPD Detective Jerry Edgar.

No casting details have been announced, but Variety reports Jamie Hector, who played Jerry Edgar on the original series, “is poised to reprise the role.”

Hector is also known for playing drug kingpin Marlo Stanfield on The Wire and CIA strongman Devon Finch on Queen of the South.

The untitled series will take Jerry from Los Angeles to Miami. Amazon describes the new series as “A police drama following Harry Bosch’s former partner, Detective Jerry Edgar, who is tapped for an undercover FBI mission in Little Haiti, Miami. In this glamorous city, he is forced to balance his new life with the gritty underbelly of the city, while being chased by his mysterious past.”

The upcoming police drama, like the original Prime Video series, will be based on the books by Michael Connelly that followed LAPD detective Harry Bosch.

The series will be executive produced by Michael Connelly and Larry Andries alongside executive producers Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate, and co-executive producer Jasmine Russ.

Bosch starred Titus Welliver in the title role. The series premiered in 2014 and ran for seven seasons before ending its run on Prime Video in 2021.

The Harry Bosch story continued on Bosch: Legacy, which debuted in 2022 on Amazon’s Freevee streaming platform. A second season is scheduled to premiere this fall.

The other upcoming Bosch spinoff will follow Detective Renee Ballard from Connelly’s novels.

Per Amazon, “Detective Renee Ballard is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division. Beyond simply investigating unsolved crimes, Renee is dedicated to bringing credibility to the department and justice to the community. Having learned from retired ally and mentor Harry Bosch, Renee does things her way – solving cases in unconventional ways while navigating the politics of being a woman on the rise in the LAPD.”

Casting details will be announced later.

The series will be executive produced by Connelly along with Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood. Executive producing through Fabel Entertainment are Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate, and co-executive producer Jasmine Russ.

It has not yet been revealed whether the spinoffs will stream on Prime Video or Freevee.
