The first trailer has been released for the new biopic Bob Marley: One Love,  chronicling the life and impact of late reggae legend Bob Marley.

In the trailer, audiences are taken on a journey through Marley’s life — from his humble beginnings in Jamaica, to his meteoric rise to global stardom.

The video is filled with music and showcases Marley’s powerful performances on stage and moments with his adoring fans, who in one scene run after his car through the streets.

Stepping into the iconic role of Bob Marley is British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir. He’s joined by The Woman King star Lashana Lynch, who portrays his wife Rita Marley.

Just as the reggae star’s activism was central to his life, it’s a key focus of the trailer.

“There’s a war going on. You can’t separate the music and the message,” Ben-Adir says at one point.

When asked, “And what is the message?” he responds, “Peace.”

The trailer touches on Marley’s family life with his wife, Rita, and the assassination attempt on their lives in 1976, which they both miraculously survived.

The Paramount Pictures film is helmed by New York native Reinaldo Marcus Green, known for his work on King Richard. The script was penned by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers, and Terence Winter.

Marley’s son Ziggy, daughter Cedella, and widow Rita are all producers on the film, alongside Brad Pitt, Robert Teitel, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner.

In an Instagram post shared by the film’s official account, Ziggy Marley had a message for his father’s fans.

“Nothing happens before it’s time and now is the time for the story of our father Bob Marley to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming in 2024,” the caption read.

“You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became,” Ziggy wrote.

He went on to share that Bob Marley: One Love “will bring you to witness for the first time what it was like to be around the legend, to see his pain his sorrows his joys and his redemption.”

Bob Marley: One Love is set to arrive in theaters on Feb. 14, 2024.
