Starz released first-look photos on Monday of season 2 of hit crime drama BMF — which is set to premiere in January 2023.

The photos show series newcomers Leslie Jones and Mo’Nique getting to work in their gritty dealings with the Black Mafia Family.

BMF is based on the true story of Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. The two brothers from Southwest Detroit joined forces as teenagers in the 1980s, to create BMF, one of the most prominent drug trafficking organizations in the U.S.

The new season of the series will explore the Flenory brothers’ complicated relationships with their parents and each other as they fight to expand their drug business.

The season 2 cast includes Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. (as his father Demetrius Flenory Sr.); Da’Vinchi (Terry Flenory), Russell Hornsby (Charles Flenory), Michole Briana White (Lucille Flenory), Myles Truitt (B-Mickie), La La Anthony (Markisha), Mo’Nique (Goldie), Leslie Jones (Special Agent in Charge Tracy Chambers), and Caresha “Yung Miami” Brownlee (Deanna Washington).

The series debuted in September 2021, and became Starz’s highest-rated premiere of the year.

Detroit native Randy Huggins created the series and serves as showrunner, executive producer and writer. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson also executive produces. Additional executive producers include Heather Zuhlke, Anthony Wilson and Anne Clements.

In an interview last year with Urban Hollywood 411, Huggins vowed season 2 would impress fans.

“If you look at season one, each episode, to me, gets exponentially better. I can tell you season 2 is way better,” he said.

The crime drama is produced through Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television in association with Lionsgate Television for Starz.
