The Black Music Honors are set to return and this year’s honorees will include artists and musicians who have influenced and made significant contributions to African American culture and music.
The 2022 honorees are R&B group Dru Hill, who will receive the Urban Music Icon Award. Tevin Campbell will be honored with the R&B Icon Award. Mary Mary will be recognized with the Gospel Icon Award. Keri Hilson will take home the Music and Songwriter Icon Award. Singer Karyn White will be presented with the Soul Music Award, and iconic R&B group The Whispers will take home the Legends Award for their six decade music career.
“We are more than excited to return to in-person taping for the first time in nearly three years with a live studio audience,” founder and executive producer, Don Jackson, said in a statement. “The pandemic had an unprecedented impact on the music industry and we’re honored to celebrate, commemorate and honor music trailblazers who have paved the way for the next generation of music and culture.”

Singer and actress LeToya Luckett will co-host alongside actor-comedian DeRay Davis.
The event will tape live at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlant on Thursday, May 19. Performers and presenters for the award show will be announced at a later date.
The show is executive produced by Don Jackson with Jennifer J. Jackson serving as producer and Michael A. Johnson as producer and director. Tickets to attend the live taping can be purchased at Ticketmaster.
7th Annual Black Music Honors is set to air in national syndication from June 4 to July 3. It will also air on Bounce TV on Saturday, June 25.
