Bill Cosby’s spokesman has accused Eddie Murphy of “cooning” and acting like a “Hollywood slave” this weekend on Saturday Night Live.
The racially-charged remarks came after Murphy mocked the incarcerated comedian in his opening monologue, while hosting the NBC series for the first time in 35 years.
Murphy, who talked about being a father of ten, said Cosby is no longer “America’s dad,” now that he’s a convicted sex offender.
“If you had told me 30 years ago, that I would be this boring, stay-at-home house dad and Bill Cosby would be in jail, even I wouldn’t have took that bet,” Murphy said to laughter.
He then imitated Cosby and asked, “Who is America’s dad now?”

Cosby’s spokesman Andrew Wyatt fired back on Instagram Sunday night, saying The Cosby Show star paved the way for Murphy and other African-American comedians.
“Mr. Cosby broke color barriers in the Entertainment Industry, so that Blacks like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappell, Kevin Hart and et al., could have an opportunity to showcase their talents for many generations to come,” Wyatt said.
“One would think that Mr. Murphy was given his freedom to leave the plantation, so that he could make his own decisions; but he decided to sell himself back to being a Hollywood Slave,” he added. “Stepin Fetchit plus cooning equals the destruction of Black Men in Hollywood.”
