Ayesha Curry says being a basketball wife isn’t easy.
The chef, cookbook author, mom and wife sat down with Jada Pinkett Smith for an upcoming episode of Red Table Talk. The mother-of-three, who is married to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, said women frequently try to flirt with her husband.
“Stephen is very nice by nature and he’s very talkative,” she explained in a clip from the episode. “Everything is always very friendly and sometimes to the point where I’m like, I’m a grown woman, so I’ll just insert myself. I’ll be like, ‘Hello. How are you doing?’”
Curry was joined at the red table by her husband’s mother, Sonya Curry, and other members of his family. She talked about staying confident, dealing with anxiety and handling aggressive female fans.
“I’m OK with it now and obviously, you know the devil is a liar,” she said. “The ladies will always be lurking, hoping for their moment and waiting – you need to be aware of that – but for me, I honestly hate it.”
She added, “But there have been a couple of times, where I’ve wanted to punch somebody in the face for sure,” she said.
Pinkett Smith joked that her daughter Willow Smith was very protective of her around Will when she was very young. She recalled a story where 5-year-old Willow jumped in her father’s lap because a co-star was in his trailer while he was shooting a movie.
“She said, ‘My mother is going to be here very soon,'” Pinkett Smith recalled her daughter saying. “I cracked up.”
Red Table Talk is hosted by Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow and mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris. As Urban Hollywood 411 previously reported, the Facebook Watch series was renewed for a second season in March.
