A$AP Rocky has been released from a Los Angeles jail after posting $550,000 bond following his arrest Wednesday morning in connection with a 2021 shooting, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s inmate information center.

The rapper, real name Rakim Mayers, posted bond several hours after he was transported to an LAPD jail facility and booked at 12:42 p.m.

LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division detectives took him into custody at Los Angeles International Airport, police said in a press release.

The arrest happened as the rapper arrived on a private plane from Barbados with girlfriend Rihanna, who he is expecting his child, according to NBC News.

Police said the 33-year-old rapper was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon after an argument led to a shooting in Hollywood on Nov. 6, 2021. The shooting occurred around 10:15 p.m. in the area of Selma Avenue and Argyle Avenue.

“The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim,” police said. “The victim sustained a minor injury from the incident and later sought his medical treatment.”

According to published reports three or four shots were fired, and a bullet grazed the victim’s left hand.

Following the shooting, the suspect and two additional males fled the area on foot. The LAPD said detectives “worked diligently” to investigate the shooting and identify the people involved.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, the LAPD said.
