Anne Heche, an actress known for roles in the films Donnie Brasco and Six Days Seven Nights, remains hospitalized after her car crashed into a Los Angeles home on Friday, sparking a fire.

“Anne is in the ICU, she’s lucky to be alive. She has severe burns and has a long recovery ahead. Her team and her family are still trying to process what led up to the crash,” a source close to the actress told CNN.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the crash in the 1700 block of South Walgrove Avenue just before 11 a.m., after Heche’s blue Mini Cooper slammed into a two-story home, causing the structure to erupt in flames.

The LAFD posted an Aug. 5 tweet on the department’s official Twitter account saying one female passenger was rescued and taken to a hospital in critical condition. It reportedly took 59 firefighters over an hour to fully extinguish the flames caused by the impact. No other injuries were reported, according to authorities.

Ring surveillance video obtained by TMZ, showed Heche’s car speeding down the residential street moments before the crash. The impact could be heard when her vehicle slammed into the home seconds later. It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Video from local news station Fox 11 showed Heche trying to get off of the gurney as paramedics wheeled her to an ambulance. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Authorities did not immediately identify Heche as the driver, but published reports said the Mini Cooper is registered to the actress.

“Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers and to respect her privacy during this difficult time,” the actress’ loved ones said in a statement after the crash.
