Quinta Brunson, Niecy Nash-Betts, and the critically acclaimed series P-Valley are among the recipients of this year’s TV Honors presented by the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA).
In an announcement Wednesday, the group said Brunson is being honored for Best TV Writing for her work on ABC’s Abbott Elementary. Nash-Betts received recognition in the Best TV Acting (Female) category for her performance on Netflix’s Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
Starz’ P-Valley also won big, taking the awards for Best TV Drama and Best Ensemble.

The awards recognize achievement in broadcast TV and streaming, with a focus on representing and highlighting the rich diversity of the Black diaspora.
“AAFCA is proud to recognize the brightest talents in television,” the group’s co-founder and president Gil Robertson said in a statement.
“With the entertainment industry in flux due to the strikes, these incredible talents — from icons to breakouts — still deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to the television landscape,” Robertson added. “AAFCA is committed to celebrating all of our winners. Congratulations to all!”
The awards will be handed out at the 5th Annual AAFCA TV Honors in Santa Monica, Calif. on Aug. 27.
During the ceremony, singer Jennifer Hudson will receive the We See You Award, Delroy Lindo will be honored with the Legacy Award, and Marla Gibbs will be bestowed with the Legend Award.
