Hallelujer! Madea is making a comeback in February.
The newest film in Tyler Perry’s Madea franchise titled A Madea Homecoming is set to arrive on Netflix Feb. 25, the streamer announced Tuesday. Perry also shared the news with his 6.4 million followers on Instagram and thanked fans for their support.
Here’s the official description for the film: “Writer-director-producer Perry stars in the film that centers around Madea’s great-grandson’s college graduation, though the celebratory moment hits a halt as hidden secrets and family drama threaten to destroy the happy homecoming.”

The comedy features returning actors from the Madea franchise, including Tamela Mann (Cora), David Mann (Mr. Brown), Cassi Davis Patton (Aunt Bam), and there will be a guest appearance by Irish actor Brendan O’Carroll, who matches Madea’s comedic prowess as Agnes Brown. The cast also includes Gabrielle Dennis, Brandon Black, and Isha Blaaker.
In addition to leading the cast as Madea, Perry serves as director, writer, and executive producer. Producers on the film include Will Areu and Mark Swinton.
As previously reported, Perry said he was retiring the sassy character with A Madea Family Funeral (2019). But fans apparently wanted more and in June, the multi-hyphenate uploaded a video on Instagram announcing Madea would be coming out of retirement in 2022 for a new Netflix movie.
This will be the 12th installment of his popular movie franchise. Perry originated Madea in his stage plays, then brought the character to the screen in Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005).
