The 32nd Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF) will open on Feb. 7, with music comedy A Hip Hop Story, festival organizers announced Monday.
The film’s cast will attend the opening-night red carpet gala, including Affion Crockett, Cedric the Entertainer, Damaine Radcliff, Jevin Smith, Damien Dante Wayans, Lil Rel Howery, Wayne Brady, Lil Mama, and Norm Nixon, Jr.
Directed by Radcliff and written by Crockett, the film offers a social commentary on the state of hip hop culture.
A Hip Hop Story is produced by Crockett, Radcliff, Charlie Mack, and Talitha Watkins, and will be distributed by AMCi distribution (the same division that released Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce).

PAFF showcases projects from Black creatives that reinforce positive images and help to destroy negative stereotypes about African Americans and Africans.
Established in 1992 by Danny Glover (The Color Purple, Lethal Weapon), the late Ja’Net DuBois (Good Times), and executive director Ayuko Babu, PAFF is one of the nation’s largest Black film festivals.
This year, over 200 films from 54 countries will screen. Of the films selected, 49 percent were directed by women, queer or non-binary filmmakers.
The opening night gala will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills.
The festival runs for two weeks. More details can be found here.
