Candiace Dillard Bassett is saying goodbye to The Real Housewives of Potomac after six seasons.

In an official statement to People magazine on Monday, March 25, Dillard Bassett said she is leaving the Bravo reality series to focus on other career opportunities.

“As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey,” Dillard Bassett stated.

“With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP,” she added.

A source told People the reality star made the decision to leave on her own and was not forced out. She left the door open for a possible return.

“This is not a farewell, but a ‘see you later,'” she said. “Your unwavering support has been my guiding light, and I look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead — and more importantly, sharing them all with you!”

The Mississippi native grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C., after studying communications and broadcast journalism.

She competed on the beauty pageant circuit and was crowned Miss Maryland USA, Miss District of Columbia USA, and in 2013 became Miss United States, which is separate from the Miss USA and Miss America pageants.

She joined the cast of RHOP in season 3, which premiered in 2018. The former beauty queen and “Drive Back” singer is also a cast member on the ALLBLK drama series Hush and has had acting roles in a string of BET+ projects.

News of her departure comes ahead of the season 8 reunion of The Real Housewives of Potomac. The reunion premieres Sunday, March 31 at 8/7c on Bravo. Episodes of the series stream the next day on Peacock.
