Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? made a big entrance on Netflix, debuting at the top of the streamer’s English-language film chart.
The long-awaited sequel quickly traveled to No. 1, after gathering 19.3 million views during its premiere week of Sept. 7, according to Netflix viewing data released this week.
Written and directed by Perry, the film reunites a beloved group of friends for a lakeside destination wedding. Angela (Tasha Smith) and Marcus (Michael Jai White) bring everyone back together as their daughter Jasmine, played by Armani Greer, prepares to marry her fiancé.
Why Did I Get Married Again? brings back original stars Perry, Smith and White, along with Sharon Leal, Jill Scott, Lamman Rucker, and Richard T. Jones.

Taraji P. Henson joins the franchise. Other newcomers include Da’Vinchi, Greer, Osborne, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith, Derrick A. King, Everett Osborne, and Sydney Winbush.
The film arrived 16 years after Why Did I Get Married Too? was released in 2010. The original movie Why Did I Get Married? premiered in theaters in 2007.
Perry also landed a second title on Netflix’s weekly rankings. Season 3 of Beauty in Black claimed the No. 6 spot on the TV list with 3.3 million views.
Meanwhile, season 2 of Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen rose to No. 1 on the English-language TV chart with 9.9 million views.
The British series stars Theo James as Eddie, an aristocrat who unexpectedly inherits his family’s estate after his troubled old brother is passed over. Eddie discovers there’s a secret marijuana growing business operating beneath the property.
The latest episodes follow Eddie and his business partner Susie, played by Kaya Scodelario, as they expand their criminal enterprise.
Viewers also caught up on the first season of The Gentlemen, pushing it to No. 3 on the English TV list with 5.5 million views.
