Diarra From Detroit will soon return for a second season with new mysteries, fresh adventures, and an all-star guest cast.
The 8-episode season is set to debut July 29 on its new home at Paramount+, the streaming platform announced Wednesday.
In the upcoming season, Diarra Brickland gets wrapped up in another Detroit mystery, with her latest adventure involving a furniture recovery mission.
The situation seems harmless at first, but quickly spirals into a homicide investigation. Adding to her problems, Diarra faces more relationship drama.
“As Diarra attempts to sort out her messy relationship status, she instead finds herself going undercover with a secret society, starring in a Tubi movie, chasing urban legends, dodging gang warfare, and uncovering secrets buried beneath the city itself,” according to the official description.

The dramatic comedy series was created by and stars Detroit native Diarra Kilpatrick. In addition to Kilpatrick, the returning cast includes DomiNque Perry, Bryan Terrell Clark, and Jon Chaffin with Shannon Wallace, Phylicia Rashad, and Harry Lennix.
Season 2 will welcome guest stars Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Morris Chestnut, Glynn Turman, Bokeem Woodbine, Amber Riley, Lil Rel Howery, Lovie Simone, Shoniqua Shandai, Nicco Annan, Skilla Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Chris “CP” Powell, and Jude Demorest.
The show comes from BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society. In a 2025 interview with BET, Kilpatrick said she always had a passion for the arts.
“My mother was my ultimate inspiration. As a single parent, she made sure I experienced every play, concert, and art opening. If there was a Black man playing jazz on a street corner, we were there,” said Kilpatrick. “She immersed me in countless Black cultural events. If I had any talent whatsoever in any of those areas, I felt destined to become an artist.”
After graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Kilpatrick pursued acting and created the web series American Koko. She also wrote for several shows, including The Last OG and I’m Dying Up Here, before landing her own series.
Diarra From Detroit, which follows a Detroit teacher who becomes entangled in increasingly bizarre mysteries, premiered in March 2024 on BET+. The show was renewed for a second season in April 2025.
Kilpatrick executive produces alongside Kenya Barris and Miles Orion Feldsott, who also serves as showrunner.
Season 2 is set to premiere Wednesday, July 29, on Paramount+ with two episodes, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through Sept 9.
