Protesters Strike a Pose Outside 2026 Met Gala

The 2026 Met Gala brought out celebs —  and protesters determined to denounce the billionaire class, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and wife Lauren Sanchez Bezos, who were lead sponsors of the event.

Protesters held up giant orange letters spelling out “TAX THE RICH” outside New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, where fashion’s biggest night unfolded on Monday, May 4.

Bezos has especially angered activists because Amazon reportedly provides cloud services for ICE and is said to be profiting from stepped-up immigration enforcement.

An announcer on a bullhorn said  demonstrators were there to speak out against the uber-rich.

The protest featured what was billed as a “resistance red carpet.” Video posted to social media by “Freedom News TV” showed a woman sashaying down the carpet in a green sequined skirt, paired with a blue top, and a headpiece with  “Eat the Rich” written across the back.

Another woman posed for the cameras while carrying a sign saying, “Bezos and the Epstein Class Are So Out of Fashion.”

A male protester wore a “revolutionary red dress” adorned with red flowers, along with a silver crown and patent leather boots.

Reuters reported Bezos and Sanchez donated $10 million to this year’s Met Gala fundraiser, with the billionaire couple named honorary chairs of the event.

Among the A-listers making bold fashion statements were Beyoncé, Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The Grammy-winning “Cowboy Carter” singer stopped to talk to Vogue correspondent La La Anthony, who noted the songstress had not been to a Met Gala in ten years.

“It feels surreal because my daughter is here. She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share it with her and I think she looks so incredible,” the proud mom told Anthony.

This year’s theme was “Costume Art,” with attendees encouraged to follow a “Fashion Is Art” dress code. Other fashionable celebs spotted at the event included Nicole Kidman and Vogue‘s Anna Wintour.

Celebrity couples included Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, Russell Wilson and Ciara,  and Ayesha and Steph Curry.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson turned heads by wearing a skirt as he arrived with wife Lauren Hashian.

Also walking the glamorous carpet were Teyana Taylor, Damson Idris, Tessa Thompson, Cardi B, Gayle King, Babyface, Madonna, Chase Infiniti, Doechii, SZA, Serena Williams, and Cher, plus Michael stars Jaafar Jackson, Colman Domingo and Laura Harrier.
