The stars were out Sunday night in Beverly Hills for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.

One Battle After Another led the winners in the film categories after picking up four awards — best motion picture musical or comedy; best director for Paul Thomas Anderson; best screenplay for Anderson; and best female supporting actor in a film for Teyana Taylor.

During her acceptance speech, Taylor shared an inspiring message for “brown sisters and little brown girls.”

“Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much,” she said. “Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”

One Battle After Another tells the story of a group of ex-revolutionary fighters on the run from a rogue military officer. The cast also includes Oscar winners Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn, along with Regina Hall and newcomer Chase Infiniti.

Hamnet won two awards — best motion picture drama and the best actress in a drama award for Jessie Buckley. The period drama is expected to go head-to-head at the Oscars in the best picture category. The nominations will be announced on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Sinners also picked up two trophies — best cinematic and box office achievement and best original score for composer Ludwig Goransson.

On the television side, Adolescence led the competition with four awards.

The heart-wrenching drama about a teenage boy accused of killing a female classmate won the trophies for best limited series; best TV lead male actor for Stephen Graham; best TV male supporting actor for 16-year-old Owen Cooper; and best TV female supporting actor for Erin Doherty.

“Good Hang With Amy Poehler” host Amy Poehler won the Globes’ first-ever best podcast award.

Comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the ceremony for a second straight year and received high marks on social media for her jokes about Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, and an R-rated quip about Michael B. Jordan. You can watch her monologue here.
