Claressa Shields can stop asking, because Laila Ali has responded with an “absolutely not” to Shields’ offer to fight for $15 million.
In an Oct. 30 YouTube video titled “Let the Record Show – Part 2,” from her “Laila Ali KO” podcast, the undefeated boxing champion verbally jabbed Shields multiple times.
“She always repeats the same tactics, just in a new situation. We’re dealing with the same person, who plays the victim card, makes up lies, deliberately twists my words, and creates a false narrative,” Ali said.

Ali, 47, talked about carving out her place in boxing history and accused Shields, 30, of trying to discredit her achievements to stay relevant.
“So did her plan work? Did she make me mad enough to come out of retirement after 18 years and start training again to make her dream of fighting me and having a big payday courtesy of Laila Ali come true? Absolutely not,” Ali said.
The boxing champion also criticized Shields for constantly mentioning her name in interviews. Ali played a clip of Shields saying “Laila Ali” over and over again.
“I didn’t respond to her stunts at all,” Ali quipped.
She then slammed Shields for disrespecting the name and legacy of her father, late boxing icon Muhammad Ali.
“After years of blatant lies and vile disrespect, making unsolicited negative remarks about me, questioning the legitimacy of my boxing legacy, and having the audacity to cross the line by disrespecting my deceased father, trying to use his name to discredit his daughter… She will not be rewarded with the opportunity to share the ring with me or anything else. There’s your answer,” Ali said.
Shields is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and world champion, and has repeatedly challenged the retired Ali for a match-up to prove who is the greatest female boxer of all time — despite their 17 year age difference.
In July, Ali brushed the challenge off in an interview, and said she wouldn’t even consider it for less than $15 million.
Shields reacted to her comments with a July 13 post on the X platform, saying she would make her “eat” her words.
“Now @TheRealLailaAli I’m the GREATEST NOW! Be careful what you ask for! You know I’ve been wanting to make you eat your words! You not a better boxer than me & at 175 I’ll put you on your back! BEEN READY FOR YOU!” she posted.
Shields later said she’d gotten financial commitments totaling the $15 million and was ready to fight.
Last month, Shields sat down on the Tamron Hall show and said, “Even in her prime Laila Ali couldn’t beat me in a fight.”
