There will be a hip-hop showdown at the Billboard Music Awards, with Drake and Kendrick Lamar competing for the top rap award.
On Monday, Nov. 25, the BBMAs released their full list of nominees, with Zach Bryan, Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, and Sabrina Carpenter leading the nominations.
Among the first-time nominees are Teddy Swims, Tyla, Benson Boone, Shaboozey, and Chappell Roan.

Swift, the most decorated female artist in BBMAs history, earned 16 nominations across 17 entries. Meanwhile, Drake secured eight nominations this year, setting the stage for a potential showdown that could break the tie between the two artists for the all-time win record.
Drake is also in the running for top rap artist, and will face off against Kendrick Lamar, his rap rival, in the category as well as Future, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott.
The ongoing rivalry between Drake and Kendrick intensified earlier this year, with both releasing diss tracks aimed at each other.
Lamar’s insult track “Not Like Us” was the song of the summer, which could come into play at the BBMAs.
The awards will be hosted by comedian and actress Michelle Buteau.
The two-hour Billbaord Music Awards will air Thursday, Dec. 12, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, Paramount+, and Amazon’s Fire TV Channels, marking the first-ever multi-distribution broadcast of the event.
“We are thrilled to bring the 2024 Billboard Music Awards to multiple platforms, ensuring fans have more options to watch the very artists they helped propel to the top of the charts,” said Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions. “By partnering with FOX, Paramount+ and Fire TV Channels, we are able to reach music enthusiasts where they are, whether they’re tuning in on TV, streaming on-demand or watching from their mobile devices.”
