The special reunites the rapper and actor with Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Janet Hubert, who played the original Aunt Viv.

At the end of the trailer, Smith says: “I couldn’t celebrate 30 years of Fresh Prince without Janet.”

The project was taped in September, marking the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the hit series, which ran from 1990 to 1996.

In a social media post in September, Smith paid tribute to the late James Avery, who co-starred as Uncle Phil. In a second photo, the actor revealed he had set aside his differences with Hubert, and she would be joining the special along with the rest of the cast.

HBO Max said in a press release at the time that Smith and Hubert “sat down for the first time in 27 years for an emotional reunion and a candid conversation.”

Smith’s Westbrook Media produced the reunion special. Rikki Hughes serves as showrunner and executive producer along with Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser, James Lassiter, and Brad Haugen for Westbrook Media. Raphael Saadiq is executive music producer.
