Peacock brought in the barbecue and Will Smith brought the music.

The rapper and actor took to the stage in Los Angeles on Thursday, Aug. 1, to help celebrate this month’s season 3 premiere of Bel-Air.

The gathering called “Peacock’s Summer BBQ” was held at the Universal Studios Backlot, offering a celebrity-filled surprise for the tour buses that cruise around the lot.

The party included Bel-Air star Coco Jones, who performed her new single “Here We Go.”

She then invited Smith, who is an executive producer on the show, to the stage and they teamed up to perform his 1991 single “Summertime.”

The audience included Bel-Air cast members Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Jimmy Akingbola, Olly Sholotan, Akira Akbar, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones.

Executive producer Morgan Cooper, and showrunner Carla Banks Waddles were also there, along with special guest stars Jazlyn Martin, Justin Cornwell, and Alycia Pascual-Peña.

Attendees were treated to BBQ from Trejos Tacos and Black-owned Earle’s on Crenshaw and Eagle Rock BBQ.

The event also promoted NBCUniversal and State Farm’s Open Doors initiative which supports small businesses across the country.

Bel-Air is set in modern-day Los Angeles. Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral trailer reimagining The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the drama offers a fresh take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air, California.

With school out, Will (Jabari Banks) is doing Bel-Air his way in season 3.

The new season will also welcome Joseph Marcell, who played beloved butler Geoffrey on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, as a special guest on the new season.

The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Westbrook Studios, a division of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s media company Westbrook Inc.

In addition to Smith, executive producers include Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Benny Medina, Quincy Jones, Andy and Susan Borowitz, Janeika James, Jasheika James, and Andy Reaser.

Bel-Air season 3 premieres on Peacock with three episodes on Thursday, Aug. 15 and new episodes will stream weekly.
