Wendy Williams’ son says family members are “fighting” to bring her home and nurse her back to better health.

On Monday, Dec. 23, the former talk show host’s only child, Kevin Hunter Jr., shared a rare update on his mother’s health, emphasizing that she is “sober” and “ready to come home.” It’s unclear where Williams currently lives.

Charlamagne tha God, who years ago worked in radio with Williams, posted an Instagram reel showing Williams enjoying a little self-care before attending Hunter Jr.’s college graduation from Florida International University.

“This makes me feel ancient. Congrats @topfloor_kev for graduating from @fiuinstagram with a degree in Economics. Next stop law school!!!” Charlamagne captioned the post.

Hunter Jr., 24, expressed gratitude in the comments section.

“Thank you fam! Let’s get her home,” he wrote, adding, “While I’m here quick update on my mom. She’s sober and wants to come home. We’re fighting to make that happen because isolation is killing her faster than anything else.”

The Shade Room reposted Charlamagne’s reel and Hunter Jr.’s comment.

Williams, 59, had largely remained out of the public eye until recently.

In November, her court-appointed guardian said in court documents that Williams was “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”

Days later, Williams’ family members hit back and said she was actually doing much better than her guardian suggested.

“She is more clear now than she’s ever been throughout the guardianship, which is a problem for some,” a family insider told the Daily Mail in an article published on Dec. 2.

Since then, several videos have surfaced of Williams with relatives in Florida, appearing happy and looking healthier than she did in February, when the Lifetime documentary Where is Wendy Williams? aired, offering a shocking look at her living in isolation in her apartment in New York City and downing bottles of vodka.

On Friday, Dec. 20, the “We in Miami” podcast posted exclusive video on Instagram of Williams exchanging gifts with her family members. The caption for the post read: “She was sharp mentally and was the Wendy we all know and love despite claims that she is ‘permanently incapacitated.'”

In 2023, Williams was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

Her problems were compounded by legal and financial struggles. In 2022, a year before her diagnosis, she was placed under guardianship after Wells Fargo Bank filed a petition with a New York court amid concerns that the media mogul was the victim of financial exploitation.
