Wendy Williams Slams Her Publicist Who Fires Back Asking Who’s in Charge

Wendy Williams has some things to say when it comes to a statement her spokesman, Howard Bragman, released on her behalf following news that her namesake talk show is ending.

An Instagram story posted on the @therealwendywilliamsonline account Tuesday said: “Mr. Bragman although I appreciate your concerns and respect you immensely I have not authorized you to make any statements on my behalf regarding my current status with Debmar Mercury. Again thanks for your continuing concern and support.”

Bragman, a longtime Hollywood publicist, fired back with a statement to People magazine asking who exactly has control of Williams’ Instagram feed.

“I’m not honestly convinced of the source of that social media post, so when my old friend Wendy FaceTimes me personally and we alone have a chance to discuss recent events, together we can figure out the best path forward,” he said.

As previously reported, Debmar-Mercury — the producer and distributor behind The Wendy Williams Show pulled the plug on the daytime chat show after its current season due to Williams’ ongoing health problems.

Bragman released a statement Tuesday morning following the news that Sherri Shepherd would be taking over Williams’ timeslot.

“It’s been a challenging time for Wendy as she deals with her health issues. She is incredibly grateful to Debmar-Mercury, to Sherri and everybody else who has supported the show through this time,” Bragman said.

The statement did not sit well with Williams or perhaps someone close to her.

The @therealwendywilliamsonline account was recently launched and only has two posts so far—a video in which the former radio DJ said she’s ready to get back to her show and a photo celebrating her father’s 91st birthday.

The Instagram account does have a blue check mark meaning it’s been verified by the platform.

Since season 13 of The Wendy Williams Show launched in October 2021, Williams hasn’t made a single on-air appearance. The new show titled Sherri will launch in the fall.
