Wendy Williams Sheds Tears Over ‘Tough Year’ on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Wendy Williams got emotional Thursday as her star was unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“I do not have a prepared speech … because I know from the top of my heart, who I want to thank from the bottom of my heart,” she said.

The TV host, radio personality and author thanked her “loyal, hard-working staff” at The Wendy Williams Show, along with her family, friends and fans.

Williams told the crowd on Hollywood Boulevard that she credits part of her success to following the advice she’s received over the years.

The New Jersey native then got emotional while addressing the recent challenges in her personal life.

“The elephant in the room is that I’ve been having a very, very tough year,” Williams said.

“Slowly, but surely, I’m climbing out of the pit and this is one of those monumental days,” she said while wiping away tears.

Williams’ fans know her husband, Kevin Hunter, fathered a child with another woman earlier this year. Weeks later, Williams filed for divorce and Hunter left his post as an executive producer on her syndicated talk show.

The media mogul was joined at the star ceremony by her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., Fox TV stations CEO Jack Abernethy, radio host Elvis Duran, and Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell.

Williams received the 2,677th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
