Wendy Williams Breaks Silence on ‘New Life’ Amid Divorce

Wendy Williams is speaking out about her new chapter as a single woman.

The television host addressed her divorce from husband Kevin Hunter on Monday’s episode of The Wendy Williams Show, in her first public statement since filing papers on April 11.

Although Williams didn’t mention her husband of 21 years by name, she made it clear during her “Hot Topics” segment that she’s ready to move on from the marriage.

The host and author, who has been living in a sober house for months, stated: “I have to tell you, you know, I’ve been dealing with issues with addiction, alcoholism, and I have a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son.”

She added: “When you lay in a room with no TV and four gray walls all day … This is my life at the sober house. It’s one of the best things, honestly, that could have ever happened to me.”

The talk show host also revealed how the sober living house helped her analyze her life with more clarity.

“You wear a different mask when you’re out here. Everybody has things in their life that they’re embarrassed to share with the world, or they’re frightened to share with the world, or they’re not ready to share with the world,” she explained. “Addressing my sobriety, my addiction, head on, has really helped me sort out every single compartment of my life.”

She continued: “I have a commitment to me and my son to come out of here better, stronger, and faster than ever.”

Williams has previously denied negative rumors about her marriage, stating on her show in September 2017: “I stand by my guy. All is well in Hunterville. Don’t believe the hype and if there was hype, believe me you — I would let you know!”

In early March, she referred to Hunter as her “best friend” and “lover.”
