Tyler Perry helped Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, exceed the goal for his legal defense fund by donating $100,000.  Walker started a GoFundMe page and is raising money to help battle a lawsuit Officer Jon Mattingly filed against him following Breonna Taylor’s death.

The GoFundMe page states, “Now one of the officers on the raid that killed Kenny’s girlfriend is suing him for assault and ’emotional distress’…  Jon Mattingly’s lawsuit is the nearly-unbelievable next step in this ongoing mockery of justice.”

People magazine reported Perry donated to the fund in quantities of $10,000 twice, as well as an additional $50,000 and $30,000, pushing the page past its goal of $100,000. As of Monday morning, the page had raised more than $105,000.

Taylor, who was 26 at the time, was killed during an officer-involved shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, after officers served a no-knock search warrant at her apartment while she and Walker slept on March 13.

Many social media users are praising Perry for helping Walker with donations.

One user wrote: “This is what showing Black people they matter looks like. @TylerPerry donates $100k to legal defense fund of Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend. #ValueUsAlive.”

Twitter user @Ddking5556 simply stated: “I love this man.”

This is Perry’s latest philanthropic effort. In November, he donated 5,000 boxes of food to families in need in the Atlanta area.

In June, the Madea franchise creator also offered to pay for the funeral of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks, who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Atlanta.

He has also started his own foundation, to help with education, agriculture, technology, global sustainable economic development, health, human rights, and arts and culture.
