The hotel security team had attempted to break up a fight between Scott and his own personal bodyguard, per the statement.
Tension between the music star and his security guard apparently escalated because Scott was “chased and harassed” by paparazzi for days, “with no help given,” a representative for the rapper told NBC News.
The Paris public prosecutor’s office said it referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police.
The 33-year-old rapper and his legal team have been “in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve this matter and will provide updates when appropriate,” his rep said.
The “Sicko Mode” artist traveled to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Scott was in the crowd Thursday night to watch the highly-anticipated U.S. and Serbia men’s basketball semifinal.
Police are continuing to investigate the case.
