Sonja Sohn, who rose to prominence on The Wire, was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of felony cocaine possession, according to published reports.
Sohn, 55, was taken into custody on Sunday, July 21, in Manteo, North Carolina.
The arrest happened after she was pulled over during a traffic stop around 12 a.m. near the Washington Baum Bridge, WNCN-TV reported.
The Dare County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet a K-9 detected the odor of a controlled substance in the vehicle and a search was conducted. Authorities said the search turned up an unspecified amount of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside a purse in the car.
The actress was charged with felony cocaine possession, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and another misdemeanor possession for marijuana drug paraphernalia. She was also cited for an expired registration and driving with a revoked license.
Sohn, who was previously married to Australian composer Adam Plack, is also known as Sonja Plack. She posted $1,500 bail and was released from custody a short time later.
Sohn is perhaps best known for playing Detective Shakima Greggs for five seasons on HBO’s The Wire. More recently, she portrayed Laverne Johnson on Showtime’s The Chi.
