Prime Video has released a new trailer for The Underdoggs, a new sports comedy starring Snoop Dogg.
Written by Danny Segal and Isaac Schamis, The Underdoggs follows Jaycen “Two Js” Jennings (Snoop Dogg), a former pro football star who hits rock bottom and is sentenced to community service by a local judge (Kandi Burruss). He ends up taking on a gig coaching a pee-wee football team in his hometown, and the experience unexpectedly renews his love of the game.
In the trailer for the film, we first see Jennings reminiscing on his career as a football star — but his walk down memory lane gets cut short when another scene shows him crashing into a moving bus.

Held responsible for the accident, Jennings is mandated to community service and forced to coach a youth football league. Despite an apparent lack of respect from the young players, Jennings does his best to whip his team into shape.
He gets a little help along the way: Jennings finds an unexpected assistant coach in the form of his old friend Kareem (Mike Epps), who in one scene, nearly attempts to rob the former football star. An old coach (George Lopez) also steps in to remind Jennings of how far he’s come and how he can pay it forward to his team.
While not based on a true story, The Underdoggs has some real-life resonance for Snoop Dogg. The rapper previously served as a pee-wee football coach for his own son Cordell’s team, and his coaching experienced was documented in the 2018 Netflix docuseries, Coach Snoop.
Snoop Dogg is also the founder of the Snoop Youth Football League, which brings football, basketball, and cheerleading programs to inner-city youth.
In addition to Snoop Dogg, The Underdoggs stars Tika Sumpter.
Producers include Kenya Barris, Snoop Dogg, Constance Schwartz-Morini, and Mychelle Deschamps. Jonathan Glickman with Jeremiah Samuels and Anni Weisband also serve as executive producers.
The Underdoggs premieres on Prime Video Jan. 26. You can watch the trailer below.
