‘The Proud Family’ Reboot Unveils First-Look Photos of Lizzo, Al Roker and More

Lizzo, Jaden Smith, Brenda Song and Al Roker are all included in new first-look images released of the guest stars on Disney+’s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

The streaming platform unveiled several photos this week from the animated reboot, which is set to premiere on Feb. 23.

The series follows 16-year-old Penny Proud and her madcap family, parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and grandmother Suga Mama.

The first new image shows Lizzo playing an animated version of herself as the first singer Oscar hires to perform at his new theme park, SnackLand.

Another image features Jaden Smith, who will voice the college version of Myron Lewinski. Lena Waithe will play the college activist version of Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins.

Al Roker plays himself but with some additional powers as a wish-granting genie. Lamorne Morris portrays himself as a headliner in a musical.

The final first-look image showcases Brenda Song as Vanessa Vue, a local TV news reporter who covers Oscar’s most embarrassing escapades.

In addition to these guest stars, the reboot of the Proud Family will also feature the voices of Lil Nas X, Chance the Rapper, Normani, Leslie Odom Jr., Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, Debbie Allen, James Pickens Jr., Courtney B. Vance, Marsai Martin, Glynn Turman, Tina Knowles, Eva Longoria, and Holly Robinson Peete. Olympic gold medal gymnasts Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez and Dominique Dawes will also be part of the star-studded guest cast.

As previously reported, the series will feature the voice cast from the original Proud Family, including Kyla Pratt (Penny Proud); Cedric the Entertainer (Uncle Bobby Proud); Tommy Davidson (Oscar Proud); Paula Jai Parker (Trudy Proud); Jo Marie Payton (Suga Mama); Karen Malina White (Dijonay Jones); Soleil Moon Frye (Zoey Howzer); and Alisa Reyes (LaCienega Boulevardez).

Additional recurring stars include Asante Blackk (This Is Us) as Penny’s boyfriend Kareem; rapper “A Boogie” Dubose as Maya’s gamer brother Francis “KG” Leibowitz-Jenkins; Raquel Lee Bolleau (Real Husbands of Hollywood) who reprises her role as Nubia Gross; and Marcus T. Paulk (Red Tails) who reprises his role as Penny’s classmate Myron.

Keke Palmer will be voicing new central character Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, a 14-year-old activist who first clashes with Penny before they learn to respect each other.

Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar, both of whom led the original series, are executive producers on the new show. Calvin Brown, Jr. is co-executive producer and story editor, and Jan Hirota is a producer for the series.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” premieres with two episodes Feb. 23 on Disney+
