Lifetime is adding to its Terry McMillan Presents franchise, with a new original film titled ‘His, Hers & Ours’ starring Taye Diggs, Lesley-Ann Brandt, and Aimee Garcia, the network said Tuesday.

McMillan, Diggs, Brandt, and Charles Murray will executive produce the project.

The movie follows single dad Darius (Diggs), who discovers his teenage daughter in a compromising position with her boyfriend and kicks him out of the house. The boy’s angry mother Kelly (Brandt) shows up to confront Darius and sparks fly between the two parents.

According to the official description: “Kelly and Darius slowly develop feelings for each other. As their secret romance blossoms, they steal moments at family gatherings and behind closed doors, they savor the kind of love they both thought they’d never find again. But when it comes time to tell their children the truth, they must decide how much they are willing to risk for family and love.”

Aimee Garcia (Dexter and Lucifer) plays Kelly’s best friend and event planner Sofia, who grows suspicious of her friend’s budding relationship.

The movie marks the third collaboration between Diggs and best-selling author McMillan after the feature film How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998), and Lifetime’s 2024 movie Terry McMillan Presents: Forever, co-starring Diggs and Meagan Good.

Lifetime first announced its partnership with McMillan in February 2024. The agreement brings original movies centering on the love and lives of African American women to the network.

The new film — Terry McMillan Presents His, Hers & Ours is directed by Patricia Cuffie-Jones from a script written by Bart Baker.

Richard Foster and Chet Fenster are executive producers for Motion Entertainment, a WPP Media company. Autumn Federici, Jake Helgren and Emmy winner Shelby Stone serve as producers for The Ninth House.

The movie will premiere later this year.
