Taye Diggs takes a scary turn in the upcoming Tubi thriller Stepfather.
The actor leads the cast of the original film as Darnell, a man obsessed with having the perfect family.
After eliminating family members who fell short of his idea of perfection, Darnell believes his new wife Asia (played by Tamar Braxton) and her daughters will finally bring him happiness.
But the marital bliss doesn’t last long when Asia discovers Darnell’s deadly past. He plots to get rid of her, but realizes it won’t be as easy as he thinks.
The trailer reveals Darnell’s real name is Leon and he’s wanted in three different states for three different murders. As police try to track him down, they say Darnell/Leon has a history of targeting widows with children.
The cast also includes Kalani Jules (Find Me in the Void), Jessica Jarrell (Hijacked), Janeline Hayes (Girl’s Trip), Dante Brown (Dash and Lily), Troy Brookins (Stargirl), TJ Shaw (Babysplitters), Koda Kalani Beschen (Chemical Sundown), and Elizabeth Dantus (The Sweetest Heir).
Grammy-nominated singer Braxton previously had roles in the faith-based BET+ series Kingdom Business, the TV One thriller A Mother’s Intuition, and other projects.
NAACP Image Award-winning actor Diggs recently inked a deal with Lifetime to executive produce the micro-vertical film Tides of Temptation. Set on the island of Nevis, the vertical movie stars SwagBoyQ, Troy Brookins, Mea Wilkerson, and David John Craig.
Diggs’ latest film, Stepfather, is directed by Chris Stokes (I Didn’t Do It). The thriller is scheduled to premiere Friday, June 19 on Tubi.
