Snowfall returns for season 5 with a focus on how Franklin (Damson Idris) and his family are adjusting to being rich— but that same money starts to tear them apart as greed and egos threaten the drug empire they’ve built.

In the new trailer released this week by FX, Franklin has to juggle watching his back, keeping his family and baby safe, and avoiding the arrests of his crew by the LAPD.

“This empire — it’s going to crumble. I’m trying to help you Franklin,” his mother Cissy (played by Michael Hyatt) tells the drug kingpin. “Then help keep the peace,” a frustrated Franklin shoots back.

As the trailer shows, Franklin is willing to risk it all to protect his family and keep the money flowing. “Nothing tears a family apart like money,” Franklin warns in the final scene from the trailer.

Joining Idris and Hyatt in the new season are cast members Carter Hudson, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Isaiah John, Angela Lewis, Amin Joseph, Michael Hyatt, Kevin Caroll, and Alon Aboutboul.

The series was created by the late John Singleton, Eric Amadio and Dave Andron. Snowfall is executive produced by Singleton, Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Amadio, Michael London, Trevor Engelson, Leonard Chang, Walter Mosley and Julie DeJoie. Andron serves as showrunner. Snowfall is produced by FX Productions.

Snowfall returns Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
